Here are just some of the things your gift to Family Service of Greater Boston will help the agency to achieve:
| • |
Provide troubled young children with safe and effective best-practice evaluations to assess the possibility of sexual abuse and develop plans to provide counseling and therapy to ensure their healthy development and prevent exacerbation of mental health and behavior problems.
|
| • |
Extend our nurses' monthly home visits to pregnant women and new mothers whose mental health, physical health, and other psychosocial problems put them and their children at risk for long-term disabilities due to reactive attachment disorder.
|
| • |
Enable families to participate in a ten- to 15-week course of any of FSGB's best-practice child/parent programs, such as the Adolescent Transitions Program, Beyond Blame Media Literacy Program, Effective Black Parenting, and Friendly PEERsuasions girl-specific skill-building, to prevent mental health disorders, substance abuse, or child abuse.
|
| • |
Provide intensive at-home child welfare services to enable parents to understand and manage troubled family dynamics and communication problems, anger and violent impulses, and difficult children’s behavior; to help moms and dads to learn positive alternatives to physical discipline and ensure safety for all family members.
|
| • |
Provide long-term case management, home health care visits, and medication management over the course of a year for low-income, over-80-year-old elders experiencing isolation, anxiety, and declining health, with no family or community support.
